Ballhandling

Ballhandling is very essential on how to learn and start to play basketball effectively. It is an art of holding the ball properly. In acquiring the good habits and improving the skills, the physical and mental factors are needed. Remember that other skills depend on the progress and effectiveness of your ballhandling.



Steps on How to Improve your skills

1. Hold the ball with both hands, firmly.

2. See to it that both hands are openly spread out covering the ball.

3. Basketball should rest with your palm and fingers, giving the feel and sensitivity.

4. Keep on tapping the ball for quite a number of seconds.

5. Rotate the ball around your body, your waist, head and legs. Do it on a clockwise and counterclockwise rotation.

6. Execute the figure of 8 in between your legs, clockwise and counterclockwise.

7. Bounce the ball while you are in triple-threat position. Always keep your both hands on top of the ball. The harder you bounce the harder and faster it reaches your hands, the better you feel and react. It will improve your quickness and reaction.

8. Hold that ball in front with straight arm position; release and clap and catch. Repeat as often as possible

10. Stand-up in a triple-threat position with knees bent and flexed; hold that ball underneath with your hands interlocking. Drop that ball and catch changing the position of hands. Do not permit the ball to hit the floor. Do this as fast you can.

11. Stand-up in a triple-threat with knees flexed. Hold the ball with both hands placing it at the back; throw in front and catch; return back and catch. Do not permit the ball to hit the floor. Do this as fast as you can.

Note!!!

Give emphasis to the position and form. See to it that correct form must be observed. Eye level, chin up, straight, knees are flexed, stance must be properly correct, relax and concentrate.
