Figure of Eight
1. Stand up with feet apart, shoulder width, knees are bent / flexed and your head up.
2. Push the ball between your legs from front to back on a bounce towards your left hand and continue dribbling.
3. Dribble with your left hand around outside of your left leg and push the ball back between your leg on a bounce to your right hand and continue the dribble.
4. Continue the pattern practicing at different height.
Wall Dribbling
1. This drill is especially good for developing strength and stamina in the fingers, hands, wrist and arms as well as timing and rhythm.
2. Use the dribble against the wall at eye level.
3. See how close you can keep control of the ball.
4. Practicing this drill until you can dribble for several minutes. For extra rhythm, and timing practice, try this drill.
Two Ball Dribble
1. Begin dribbling the two balls one with each hand while standing still. The ball should be bouncing simultaneously ( at the same time ).
2. Pivot and turn to your left, pivot back to your right; pivot and turn to your left and pivot back to your left.
3. Walk straight, and move backward using the dribble.
4. Increase your dribbling speed until you can dribble at almost full speed.
5. Practice jump start and turn.
6. Zigzag up and down the court adding head and shoulder fakes to your stops and changes of pace and direction.
7. Repeat 1-6 with alternating dribble. This means that the two balls do not bounce simultaneously but alternately in a steady rhythm.
